“It’s such a shame about the marks on her face.” My a**hole of a Mother-in-Law said this to me when she saw my daughter for the first time, when she was about a week old. There was no “oh, she’s gorgeous!”. Not even a “congratulations!”. The woman was so bitter that her son had chosen to marry a woman she didn’t approve of that all she could do was insult a newborn, because that child further solidified the family that she’d been trying to break apart for years.
My gorgeous little one with a very common red “stork’s kiss” birthmark on her forehead and eye:
Little one is now two and still gorgeous inside and out ??:
Grandma eventually warmed to little one (how could you not?!), but never to me, and now we’re trying to figure out what we do with that as a family. Little love turned 3 recently. If you squint, you can just about see a faint redness when she concentrates, but what’s far more obvious is the adorable tongue-out-in-concentration.
